Abstracts will be selected for oral or poster sessions and accepted ones will be published and distributed at the congress.

Abstracts sent by fax or e-mail cannot be accepted.

Instruction for Authors

1.	The abstract must be written in English and contain a brief, clear statement of conclusion.
2.	The title of the abstract should be brief and identify the nature of the study.
3.	The name of the presenting author must appear first on the list of authors.
4.	The abstract body should be approximately 200 words and must contain: • A sentence stating the purpose of the study • A brief description of methods if pertinent • A summary of results • A statement of conclusions reached.
5.	All abbreviations must be defined before they appear in the text.

Abstract Review and Selection

1.	Abstracts will be reviewed and selected by the Scientific Program Committee.
2.	Confirmation of acceptance or rejection by the Scientific Program Committee will be e-mailed to the corresponding e-mail address of the presenting author in mid-June 2008.

Presentation Styles

1.	Symposium/Workshop
2.	Oral Presentation Must be conducted using a PC.
3.	Poster Session • Poster presentation is free discussion without moderators. Presenters are required to stand in front of their poster to answer questions from participants during specified discussion time. • Poster should be brought to the congress and not mailed, as the Organizing Committee cannot be responsible for loss or mishandling. • Presenters are responsible for posting and removing their own materials. • Audio-visual equipment may not be used.

Application for Young Investigators Award (YIA)

The organizing committees of the 11th World Congress of Endoscopic Surgery encourage young researchers who submit original abstracts for free paper (oral or poster presentations) and who need financial assistance to attend the meeting to apply for a YIA.

Criteria

1.	Applicants must be students, clinical research residents or pre/post doctoral trainees. Applicants must be under the age of 40 at the time of application. There is no restriction on nationality for applicants.
2.	An applicant must be a first author of an abstract.
3.	The abstracts for applying for this award should be written in English.
4.	A travel grant of JP\50,000 (about US$500) will be awarded in appreciation of participation by the 11th World Congress of Endoscopic Surgery after the meeting. A maximum of 50 people will be awarded.
5.	The applicants must go through the application procedure for registration for the congress and complete the payment.
6.	It is the applicant's responsibility to obtain the necessary visa for entering Japan prior to the congress.

Deadline of abstract submission:

Deadline for abstract submission has been extended to the Noon (JST), April 15, 2008.

1.	Please submit your application for this award when you submit the abstract.
2.	If there are several authors listed for an accepted abstract, the first author listed must present the paper at the congress and has the right to receive the grant.
3.	Abstracts will be reviewed and selected by the Scientific Committee of the congress.
4.	Confirmation of acceptance or rejection by the Scientific Committee will be e-mailed to the corresponding e-mail address of the presenting author. (expect by mid-June)
